fouiller - to search, rummage

Poussées par la réception d'une lettre anonyme (envoyée par un de ses complices), les autorités fouillent le palais de Westminster pendant les premières heures du , et trouvent Guy Fawkes auprès des explosifs.  

Spurred to action by an anonymous letter (sent by one of his accomplices), the authorities searched Wesminster Palace in the early hours of November 5, 1605, and found Guy Fawkes near the explosives.
