la lame

Hullo, the francophone word of the day is la lame.  It means a blade of a weapon (but also has all sorts of related meanings such as sheet, slat, blade or leaf of grass, strong wave, etc).
The steel of which the blade was forged was an alloy of many varieties of soft and hard metals.
The storm was violent, the sky filled with clouds, and high waves beat against the shore with a deafening noise.  [Jules Verne, The Fur Country]
