clapoter

The word of the day is the verb clapoter, which means splashing or lapping (as waves).
  • Les vagues continuant de clapoter à leurs pieds, les enfants couraient le long de la plage.
The waves continuing to lap at their feet, the children ran along the beach.
  • J'étais assis au bout de la jetée et je contemplais les eaux bleues clapotantes du détroit de Taiwan.
I sat at the end of the jetty and gazed into the choppy blue waters of the Taiwan strait.
